What is the Shed Moving Process?

When you are ready to move your shed, give us a call. RPG will gather the measurements, pick-up and drop-off locations and any other information needed to schedule the job. We will work with you on how the shed can be moved if there are fences or other obstacles in the way. We will work with you to determine the date and get you on our schedule.

Get Rid of Your Old Shed

Are you getting a new shed and need to remove the old one? Or do you want to remove the previous homeowner's structure? At RPG Hauling & Logistics, we have you covered. We will come out to the location, load up the shed, and you won't have to worry about it anymore. Don't deal with an old structure; call our team to dispose of it.

Let Us Answer Your Shed Questions

Can I move my shed?

As long as the following are true, we can move your shed:

Shed has a floor joist, subfloor that walls and siding are attached to. Sheds built to be “portable” will have runners (4x4 lumber running perpendicular to floor joists) spaced at 6’ outside to outside. If shed was built on site we can add runners onsite. Runners are required to secure structure to trailer and attach wheels to move it.

2x4 framing 16” or 24” on center with wood sheathing intact

What size sheds can we move?

Sheds up to 12’ wide, 24’ long and 10’10” tall fall under our permits. Dimensions outside these require special permits.

Each locality has its own rules on pilot cars, if your shed is over 10’ wide you can expect at least one escort vehicle will be required. Here’s a link to Hampton roads requirements.

What about fences and obstacles?

We will remove fence panels and pull post but do not re-install. We can coordinate with a fence contractor ahead of time if you’d like.

We prefer a clear path with all limbs trimmed and outdoor furniture moved. We will help you move heavy items that you can not handle, just let us know your situation.

How much space do I need?

Minimum path 2’ wider than shed. If shed needs to be turned we need a clear path twice the sheds length as general rule.

We need 5’ on at least one end to get our machine attached to shed.

We need at least 42” to get machine into yard.

How level must the site be?

There is no such thing as a level yard unless you graded it intentionally. We will level each shed with a combination of cement blocks and treated lumber. Areas with more than 8” change in elevation will incur addition cost and need to be coordinated a head of time.

What can not be moved?

Sheds over 14’ tall typically cannot be moved over roadways. But we can move them around your yard

Sheds built on concrete pads (no movable floor system)

Kit sheds from big box stores are typically built with just enough 2x3 lumber to hold building up. They are not meant to be moved.

Water damage and termites. If structure as been degraded by these things chances are it will not withstand the forces applied to move it.
